REASONS,PURPOSE,METHOD & PHILOSOPHY

- · REASONS
- · The main object of OzBrit is to provide a lobby that can effect and influence politicians and political parties that appear,for the main part, to ignore electorates once elected.Voters have seen how often changes to institutions,traditions and values inherited by Australia from Britain have resulted in difficult and expensive consequences for the taxpayers of this country.(See OZBRIT VALUES in Menu)
- · Much Of such legislation is now being recognised as resulting from elitist ideologies,completely out of touch with reality, and which often disadvantage "main stream" Australian-born and British-born naturalised Australian citizens and favour recent arrival minorities.
- · Despite there being many British "ethnic" Associations they have not been very effective in countering the constant snide criticism of Britain/ Engiand,the Monarchy, or challenging legislation, which clearly ignores the culture of the majority of the population, being predominantly Australians of British descent and British-born people who have settled and thus taken up citizenship in this country.
- All British "ethnic" Associations have been engaged in providing social activities for their members but their constitutions generaly discourage any political activity. .
- OzBrit is not a "social activities" organisation but is concerned with drawing attention to and,questioning proposed and existing legislation and refuting denigrating anti-British comments and opinions in the Media.
- PURPOSE
- (1) To question politicians and political parties regarding legislation which seems out of sympathy with the attitudes of "main stream " Australian citizens.
- (2 To influence changes to existing legislation and proposed legislation to ensure that these are in the best interests of Australia and its citizens.
- (3) To counter critics of Australian Institutions, Traditions and Values which are so important to the continued success of Australia
- METHOD '
- · (4)Lobbying of politicians and political parties and others by OzBrit will defend and promote Australian Institutions, Traditions and Values and make it more difficult for politicians to continue to ignore "main stream" opinion. Any registered OzBrit supporter is invited to make a Personal Resolution to the Ozbrit Council requesting joint action by all OzBrit supporters. It will be then considered for appropriate OzBrit action. A Resolution form has been devised for this purpose
- · (5)All supporters are asked to monitor the Media for indications of changes to legislation and any denigrating comment or opinion, and notify the OzBrit Council who will then consider the best way to answer the matter
- PHILOSOPHY
- (1) OZBrit supports Australian and British Institutions, Traditions and Values derived from Britain , modified in Australia for local conditions
- (2) OzBrit does not support the "Black Arm Band" view of Australian History
- (3) OzBrit seeks support from ;
- (a)Australians of British descent,
- (b) Australians born in Britain,
- (c)Australian citizens (regardless of their country of origin) who recognise the value of the Institutions,Traditions and Values. we all inherited
- from Britain and wish to maintain these in Australia
- (4)OzBrit through its Web Site and E-Mail seeks to unite Australian citizens in opposing those who would seek to destroy our Institutions,Traditions and Values.
- (5)OzBrit is NOT in competition with existing "British Origin "associations for members as these provide social functions which OzBrit does NOT provide. On the contrary, OzBrit encourages people to join these Associations if their main interest is social activities.
